Deploy and Configure CoreOS 845.0.0 Alpha into the Local Disk


Kerker, It’s time to post a rubbish. I want to introduce how to deploy the CoreOS into the local disk, and the procedure of deployment is need to be in the environment of Internet because it will download the related files from the Internet. In fact, I believe you can finish it if you have deployed the Arch Linux ever. So how do we deploy the CoreOS in the the local disk? Let’s keep reading:
1) Download the iso about the CoreOS 845.0.0 and boot it
#wget http://alpha.release.core-os.net/amd64-usr/845.0.0/coreos_production_iso_image.iso

2) Configure the password for the account of sit through the cloud-config-file
#sudo openssl passwd -1 > cloud-config-file
#cat cloud-config-file
#cloud-config
users:
- name: sit
passwd: $1$xXxXxXxXxXxXxXxXxXxXxXxXxXxXx
groups:
- sudo
- docker

3) Execute the command to call the script for CoreOS installation into the Local Disk
#sudo coreos-install -d /dev/sda -V 845.0.0 -C alpha -c cloud-config-file -v

4) Reboot the OS and login into the system w/ previous account and password you set
#cat /etc/os-release
DISTRIB_ID=CoreOS
DISTRIB_RELEASE=845.0.0
DISTRIB_CODENAME="Red Dog"
DISTRIB_DESCRIPTION="CoreOS 845.0.0"

5) Through the container to fulfill the commands that aren’t be included in the CoreOS 845.0.0
#/usb/bin/toolbox
#yum groupinstall "Development Tools"
#yum install iputils
#yum install net-tools
#yum install iperf
#yum install dmidecode
#yum install OpenIPMI
#yum install ipmitool
#yum install sl
#yum install htop
#yum install lsof
#yum install make

6) Backup this OS into a image through dd(Can solve the environment w/o Internet and Legacy Only)
#dd if=/dev/sda of=/backup/CoreOS-845.0.0.alpha.img
